WordPress is an excellent system for beginners to get involved with. This is because there are no files to download and it can be accessed anywhere in the world via the internet. All you are required to do is to login and you can start creating pages, blog posts etc.

How much hosting you need will depend on your site/project. If you've grown tired of your old host and have decided to switch over to use our service the first thing you need to do is signup for a web hosting package. During the checkout process of this you will see an option to mark your domain as a transfer. Once your order is complete you will need to send a support ticket over to our team which includes your old host's control panel URL, account name and password. You will then need to update your domain's DNS servers. We can provide you with any information you need to do this or we can do it for you with some additional information being provided. This process should take no more than 24 hours.

Welcome to the Figment family! Once you have signed up you should receive two emails a sign up email and a billing notification. Once your payment has been processed you will receive a further welcome email with all login information included. This means your account is ready to use. A domain is the name of the site that has been assigned to an IP address to make accessing your websites much easier. A domain combines with a TLD (.com, .co.uk, .net, .org etc) to produce a domain name. You can choose any domain you like e.g. hostyourownsite, pigscanfly, figment-hosting. Combined is the domain name - figment-hosting.co.uk!

Registering an online domain usually comes at a cost. This is because you are purchasing your own identity for your space on the web. Take a look at our packages to see where you can get your domain registration included for free!

Most products are activated immediately after we receive confirmation of payment. Though a domain registration may take up to 24 hours to propagate (usually a couple of hours).

Bandwidth is the amount of data that is allowed used altogether when transferring in and out of accounts during a period of time which would usually be one month. An example is that if there was a 2mb image stored on the server which has been accessed on 8 different occasions this would mean 16mb has been used. Bandwidth is mainly used up on the browser.

We will ask you for your old hosts details if you have an existing site. Once we have these the process is normally done within the hour, and DNS can take roughly 20 minutes to 24 hours (usually 20 minutes!).

Disk space is the amount of data a specific client has allocated to their hosting. Disk space is a combination of all files saved on the server along with databases and emails. If you had 1GB of disk space this could be reached by 1000 1mb pictures being stored on the server. Once this had been exceeded files will no longer be available to upload.
